Gold in Australia with takeover of Norton Goldfields
Zijin, China's
largest gold producer, now holds more than 50% of Norton Golfdields' shares, as
the Australian group attempts to revive mining operations in central Queensland
and plans a new copper mine at Many Peaks, southwest of Gladstone. Four Norton
directors, including Chairman Tim Prowse, have resigned and Zijin’s Chairman,
Jinghe Chen, will chair the Norton Goldfields board.
