De Beers retail stores expand in China





De Beers retail stores expand in China The world's largest diamond miner by value De Beers has formed a JV with luxury conglomerate LVMH to open six or more retail stores in China this year. De Beers' retail venture opened its first outlet in mainland China last year as the group along the rest of the sector makes the most of Asia's enormous appetite for luxury. De Beers JV with LVMH will called De Beers Diamond Jewelers; De Beers is also refurbishing their flagship stores in London's luxury quarter and on New York's Fifth Avenue to attract wealthy Chinese buyers traveling abroad.

China to Become World's Largest Diamond Market


Ari Epstein CEO of the Antwrp World Diamond Centre says he believes that China may overtake the USA to become the world’s largest diamond market by the end of 2015 as demand rises in China for luxury goods.

Chinese firms have recently announced major deals with many African firms to mine for diamonds and China is already a major diamond polishing center.
