Shanghai
regulators have reportedly agreed to allow a group of American and British
hedge funds to operate in China as part of a pilot program, the New York Times
reported. But only one of the reported six funds has confirmed the report. The
Man Group, a London-based alternative investment management company, said the
approval is just the first step. The New York Times quoted sources as saying
that the funds, which include Oaktree, Och-Ziff, Citadel, and Canyon Partners,
all of the US, and British Winton Capital, are expected to be able to raise
USD50m each from Chinese companies to invest around the world.
China, the world’s 2nd
largest economy, continues to be the most important market for companies
looking for growth and Chinese companies continue to globalize by investing and
selling their products in new markets; what is your company’s strategy for engaging China?
