HSBC and Standard Chartered invited to Shanghai Free Trade Zone
The Shanghai bureau of the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) has reportedly invited foreign banks HSBC and Standard Chartered to be among the first banks to open businesses in the mainland's first free-trade zone located in Shanghai. The two foreign banks, which have conducted business in China for more than a century, have often been selected to take part in the country's banking and financial innovations. Standard Chartered and HSBC both said they are committed to building a presence in the zone.
