Fonterra to open
second hub in China
The world's largest
exporter of dairy products, Fonterra, has announced plans to open a second dairy
hub in China. The hub is planned for Ying County in Shanxi Province, and
will have 15,000 cows. This second farming hub aims to meet the growing demand
for fresh milk in China, The Ying County hub will consist of five 3,000 cow
farms. Fonterra said production is expected to start in the first half of next
year.
Fonterra is recovering
from a recent false botulism scare, which was highly publicized in the Chinese
press.
